Listen to your Devotional HERE
Theme: Trust, Unity, and the Journey of Faith
Scripture Focus:
- Exodus 14:13-14 - "Moses answered the people, 'Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.'"
- Exodus 15:2 - "The LORD is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s G-d, and I will exalt Him."
Devotional Reflection:
Parashat Beshalach is a powerful narrative of Israel's journey from bondage to freedom, filled with miracles, challenges, and moments of both fear and triumph. As couples walking together in faith, there are profound lessons to draw from this portion.
- Trusting God in Uncertainty: Just as Israel stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh's army behind them, couples often face situations that seem overwhelming. The key is in Moses’ words: "Do not be afraid. Stand firm." In marriage, facing challenges side by side with trust in Adonai strengthens the bond. Discuss with your spouse areas where you need to stand firm together and trust G-d’s provision.
- Unity in the Journey: Israel crossed the sea as a community, not as isolated individuals. Likewise, marriage is a journey of unity. Even when fears or disagreements arise, the commitment to walk through them together is essential. Reflect on how you support each other emotionally and spiritually during difficult times.
- Praising Through the Battles: After the crossing, Miriam led the women in song and dance, celebrating G-d’s victory. Praise isn’t just for after the battle; it sustains faith during the struggle. As a couple, cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Perhaps sing a song together, pray, or list recent blessings you’ve seen in your lives.
Questions for Reflection and Discussion:
- What "Red Sea" moments have we faced together, and how did we see G-d’s hand at work?
- Are there areas where fear is holding us back from trusting G-d fully?
- How can we better support each other in faith and encouragement?
Prayer: Abba, thank You for being our Deliverer and the One who fights for us. Help us as a couple to stand firm in faith, to trust You even when the path is unclear, and to walk in unity through every season. May our hearts be filled with praise, recognizing Your hand in both the trials and the triumphs. B’shem Yeshua, Amen.
Application: Consider setting aside a time this week to pray together specifically for an area where you need to trust God more. Write down a "stone of remembrance" moment, a testimony of G-d’s faithfulness in your marriage, and revisit it when new challenges arise.
