Parashat Nasso (Numbers 4:21–7:89)
Listen to your Devotional HERE
Theme: Restoration, Identity & Blessing
Key Scripture:
Numbers 6:24-26 (Birkat Kohanim / Priestly Blessing)
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His face toward you and give you shalom.”
Devotional Thought:
Parashat Nasso invites us into a sacred rhythm of responsibility, identity, and blessing. In the wilderness journey, G-d organizes His people with purpose: each tribe, each family, each person matters. This portion emphasizes personal accountability, communal roles, and healing of relationships, particularly through the Nazirite vow and the Sotah (suspected adultery) ritual, which are often misunderstood but offer deep spiritual insight when read through a Messianic lens.
The Priestly Blessing, central to this parasha, is not only a benediction but a blueprint for wholeness in relationships with G-d, with ourselves, and with one another.
Counseling Focus: Restoration & Relational Integrity
- How is G-d calling you to restore areas of disorder in your personal or family life?
Reflect on areas of neglect, misunderstanding, or distance. Use this time for confession, healing, or goal-setting. - Are you honoring your God-given identity in your relationships?
Like the Levites or Nazirites, we each have a divine calling. Do you know if your boundaries are healthy? Are you setting yourself apart where G-d has asked? - The Priestly Blessing is not just a prayer to receive: it is also a model to embody.
- Are your words toward your spouse, children, or others blessing, keeping, shining, and peace-giving?
Shabbat Table Discussion Prompts:
- What does "shalom" look like in our home right now?
- How can we reflect G-d's face to each other this week?
- Where do we need to start over with grace?
Guided Journaling:
- Name a place where you feel G-d is lifting His face toward you. How does that affect your confidence or peace?
- Reflect on a recent conflict or stressor. What would it look like to respond with the spirit of the Priestly Blessing?
- Pray together (or journal privately) through the blessing, personalizing each line.
Counseling Reflection for Couples:
Use this week to bless one another intentionally. Consider a practice like this before bed each night:
“Y’varechecha Adonai v’yishmerecha...” (“May the Lord bless you and keep you...”)
Speak it slowly, directly to your spouse, and pause to allow the Holy Spirit to work through the words.
