Parashat Lech Lecha: “Go Forth” (Bereshit/ Genesis 12:1–17:27)
Theme: Leaving for a New Beginning; Trusting G-d Together
Scripture Focus:
“Ad-nai said to Avram, ‘Lech lecha, go forth from your country, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.’” (Bereshit/Genesis 12:1)
Devotional Thought:
When Ad-nai called Avram and Sarai to leave everything familiar, He was not only forming a new nation. He was also shaping their marriage covenant through faith and trust. Every couple called by G-d must, at some point, step into the unknown together. Lech Lecha invites husbands and wives to see their shared life as a journey of faith, where obedience draws them closer to one another and to G-d.
Reflection for Couples:
- What “lands” or comfort zones might G-d be asking us to leave?
- Are we trusting Adonai’s direction, even when we cannot see the destination?
- How do we encourage each other’s calling without fear or control?
Counseling Insight:
Healthy covenant relationships require shared courage. Growth often begins when we leave the familiar, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally, and follow Ad-nai’s promises together.
Prayer:
“Ad-nai, teach us to walk together in trust, to leave behind fear, and to follow You as one heart in Your covenant.”
