Title: Building a Sacred Space Together
Opening Scripture:
"And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them." Exodus 25:8
Reflection
Parashat Terumah describes the detailed instructions G-d gave Moses for building the Tabernacle, a sacred space where His presence would dwell among Israel. Just as the Israelites were called to bring offerings with willing hearts to build G-d’s dwelling place, so too are couples called to co-labor in building a sacred space within their marriage, one where the presence of Yeshua can abide.
The Tabernacle wasn’t built overnight; it required intentionality, generosity, and unity. A strong marriage also requires a continual investment of time, love, and faith. Each spouse contributes to the relationship, just as each Israelite brought unique gifts: gold, silver, and fine linen to construct the Tabernacle.
Discussion & Application
- Willing Hearts & Generosity: G-d asked for offerings from those who gave willingly (Exodus 25:2). In marriage, love, kindness, and forgiveness should be given freely, not begrudgingly. Are there areas in your relationship where you need to give more willingly?
- Building Together: The Tabernacle was not a solo project. Couples must also build their relationship together, strengthening their emotional, spiritual, and physical bond. Are you both actively working toward a shared vision for your marriage?
- G-d’s Presence in Your Home: Just as the Tabernacle was a place for G-d’s presence, your marriage should be a dwelling place for His love and peace. What practices (prayer, worship, acts of service) can help invite His presence into your relationship?
Prayer Together
"Abba, we desire to build a marriage that is a dwelling place for Your presence. Help us to give selflessly, to build together in unity, and to invite You into every part of our relationship. May our love reflect Your love, and may our home be a sanctuary of peace, joy, and holiness. In Yeshua’s name, Amen."
Action Step
This week, commit to one intentional act that strengthens the foundation of your relationship, whether it’s a heartfelt conversation, a special act of service, or setting aside time for prayer together.
Shabbat Shalom! May your marriage be a sacred space where G-d’s presence dwells.
