Parashat Behar-Bechukotai (Leviticus 25:1-27:34)

Theme: Rest, Redemption, and Relational Renewal

Scripture Focus

“If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, then I shall give you rains in their season...” Leviticus 26:3-4 (CJB): “The land shall observe a Sabbath to Ad-nai.” Leviticus 25:2 (CJB)

Devotional Reflection

Parashat Behar centers on Shmita (Sabbatical Year) and Yovel (Jubilee Year): times of rest, release, and return. These patterns offer a redemptive blueprint for our marriages. Bechukotai reminds us of the blessings that flow from walking in G-d's covenant, and the consequences of turning away. Yet even in correction, G-d calls His people back with mercy. In your marriage, G-d invites you to release burdens, reset rhythms, and return to covenantal faithfulness. Yeshua, our Jubilee, calls us into a relationship of grace, not striving.

Guided Reflection & Journaling

  1. What does “rest” look like in our relationship right now? Am I creating space for my spouse to breathe emotionally or spiritually?
  1. Are we holding onto any emotional “debts” we need to release? Is there something I need to forgive, or ask forgiveness for?
  1. Do our decisions reflect trust in G-d, or fear of the unknown? Where are we trying to control instead of surrender?
  1. How do we handle “drought seasons” together: emotionally, spiritually, or financially? What support can we offer each other in hard times?

Marriage Jubilee Check-In

Take turns answering out loud, or journal together:

- What is one “burden” I’ve been silently carrying in our marriage?
- What is one “freedom” I want us to pursue this year?
- How can we better let each other rest and be fully ourselves?

Prayer (Read Aloud Together)

Abba (Father), our Redeemer,
Thank You for teaching us the rhythms of rest and renewal.
Help us embrace Your ways in our marriage.
Where we’ve strayed, bring us back.
Where we’re tired, give us rest.
Where we’re burdened, let us forgive and release.
Let our love reflect the covenant of Messiah Yeshua,
who is our Jubilee, our Redeemer, and our Peace.
B’shem Yeshua HaMashiach, Amen.
