Parashah Ha’azinu (Deuteronomy 32:1–52)
Theme: Remembering G-d’s Faithfulness: Singing the Song of Our Covenant
READ
“Listen, heavens, as I speak! Hear, earth, the words from my mouth! May my teaching fall like rain, may my speech drop down like dew, like gentle rain on new grass, like showers on tender plants.” Devarim / Deuteronomy 32:1–2, CJB
“The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are; a trustworthy G-d who does no wrong. He is righteous and straight.” Devarim / Deuteronomy 32:4, CJB
“He found him in a desert land…He protected him like the pupil of His eye.” Devarim / Deuteronomy 32:10, CJB
REFLECT
Ha’azinu (“listen”) is Moshe’s final song, a poetic retelling of Israel’s journey and Ad-nai’s unfailing faithfulness. It is both warning and worship, lament and love. Moshe sings not only of G-d’s justice but of His tender care: the Rock who nourishes His people, the Father who lifts them, the One who protects them as the apple of His eye.
For couples, Ha’azinu calls us to remember. As we near the close of Deuteronomy, we are invited to look back and sing our own song of gratitude, our story of G-d’s faithfulness through every valley and victory. Every marriage has its melody, shaped by trials overcome, laughter shared, and mercies renewed.
When we take time to remember and speak about what Ad-nai has done, our hearts grow stronger together. The Hebrew word zakar (remember) is active; it means to bring something into the present. Remembering G-d’s goodness rekindles hope and unity in our relationship today.
Just as Moshe’s song was meant to be passed from generation to generation, so too our love can become a testimony, a living song of G-d’s covenant faithfulness.
DISCUSS
- If we were to write our own “song” of G-d’s faithfulness as a couple, what moments would we include?
- How can we practice remembrance together, maybe through journaling, celebrating anniversaries of answered prayers, or retelling stories of G-d’s provision?
- Where in our current season might G-d be inviting us to trust Him again as The Rock, steady, just, and faithful?
PRAY
Ad-nai Tzurenu, Lord, our Rock, We remember Your goodness and Your steadfast love that has carried us this far. You have been faithful in every season, and Your mercy has been the song beneath our days. Teach us to sing our gratitude, to speak life over one another, and to let our marriage be a melody of Your covenant love. May our story bring You glory, from generation to generation. In Yeshua’s holy name, Amen.
Weekly Thought
When we remember what Ad-nai has done, our hearts learn to sing even in the wilderness.
